Head Coach of Jamshedpur FC, Scott Cooper, recently expressed his confidence in taking Wungngayam Muirang, the new recruit, to a higher level this season.
Scott Cooper was quoted as saying, “I believe it’s always beneficial to have a left-footed center back in the lineup, and with him being a young player open to learning, I’m confident we can take him to an even better level this season.”
Muirang, a tall center defender with a strong left foot, is seen as a valuable addition to the team.
The young player expressed his excitement about representing Jamshedpur FC and is eager to demonstrate his skills in front of the Furnace audience.
Born in the highland town of Ukhrul in Manipur, Muirang’s journey in football started at a young age. After starting with FC Pune City Reserves club in the Second Division I-League, he moved to the I-League team Gokulam Kerala.
His impressive performance with Gokulam Kerala paved the way for his move to Bengaluru FC, where he played at the Hero ISL level.
During his tenure at Bengaluru FC, he made seven appearances in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) and was part of the team’s 2021 AFC Cup campaign. He also tasted victory when his team won the Durand Cup in 2022.
Now, the 24-year-old has officially signed with Jamshedpur FC. The club, known for its history of nurturing exceptional talent, believes that the addition of Muirang will bolster its defense.
