Jamshedpur FC Set to Compete in Historic 132nd Durand Cup Tournament

The upcoming 132nd Durand Cup tournament will see Jamshedpur FC, alongside other top-tier clubs, in action from August 3 to September 3, 2023.

JAMSHEDPUR – Alvies Bastin, Sadhu Marndi, and Bivan Jyoti Laskar are set to be part of Jamshedpur FC’s squad travelling to Kolkata for the prestigious Durand Cup.

Also, featuring in the list are Laishram Rameshor Meetei, Ningthoujam Mahesh Singh, and Bhaskar Chhetri among others, who will add depth to the squad’s performance.

Mohammed Sanan, Asem Maingou Singh, and Ashley Koli are also listed as part of the team.

Key players like Moirangthem Marjit Singh, Phijam Vikas Singh, and Sekh Sahil are also expected to make their presence felt on the field.

Adding strength to the defensive line are Sairem Sital Singh, Rosangzuala, Zonunpuia, and Kishan Sardar.

Goalkeepers Mohit Singh Dhami, Ayush Jena, Luckystar Lawai, and Raj Boro will be pivotal in securing the team’s goalpost.

The team will kick off their first game against Mumbai City FC at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on August 8, with the matches being broadcast live on the Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV.

Jamshedpur FC’s Head Coach, Scott Cooper, emphasized the importance of the tournament for the young players, encouraging them to seize this opportunity to showcase their potential against top-tier teams in India.

Mukul Choudhari, the club’s CEO, echoed the sentiment, stating the participation in one of the oldest club championships provides a platform to display the prowess of their young players against the best national teams.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Steven Dias, the team hopes to leverage the Durand Cup’s competitive nature to hone their game-related skills and characteristics.

Participating in Group B, Jamshedpur FC will share the group with teams like Mumbai City FC, Mohammedan Sporting, and Indian Navy, with matches being hosted at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan and Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata.

The 132nd Durand Cup Football Tournament, hosted by the Indian Army on behalf of the Three Service Chiefs, is set to take place from August 3 to September 3, 2023.
