Protest Over Manipur Incident in Jamshedpur; Modi and Shah Effigies Burned

Amidst protests over the ill-treatment of a tribal woman in Manipur, effigies of Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Shah, and the Manipur government are being torched across the country.

JAMSHEDPUR – Sunday marked a day of nationwide protest over the horrific incident involving a tribal woman in Manipur.

In Jamshedpur, Congress members, under the guidance of District Secretary Raja Singh, took a bold step and staged a semi-nude demonstration against the Central Government and the Manipur Government.

Participants marched semi-naked from Birsanagar Gudiya Maidan to Baridih Chowk, expressing their outrage by burning effigies and chanting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Manipur government.

The Congress leaders labeled the incident as a source of national embarrassment, criticizing the Prime Minister’s silence on the issue.

They warned that such instances of violence against women would not be tolerated and could have consequences in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Members of the East Singhbhum District Congress Committee echoed these sentiments, led by Executive President Dharmendra Sonkar.

They too marched in protest, donning black turbans and voicing their criticism of the BJP government’s failure to promptly address the Manipur incident.

At Baridih roundabout, an effigy of the BJP government was set ablaze, symbolizing the public’s anger and disappointment.

The district secretary, Raja Singh Rajput, pointed out the Prime Minister’s silence on the matter and expressed his concern over the government’s seeming disregard for the incident.

Bablu Jha, the district vice president, added his voice to the protest, accusing BJP’s Manipur in-charge, Sambit Patra, of wavering in his response to the ongoing violence.

Their collective call for justice resonates with the larger public sentiment against such acts of violence, promising to fuel further protests in the days to come.
