East Singhbhum to Upgrade 30 Schools Following New Education Policy

In line with the new education policy, East Singhbhum district is set to upgrade 30 schools, paving the way for comprehensive education until the 12th grade.

JAMSHEDPUR – The recent approval from the authorities has initiated the transformation process of 30 schools in East Singhbhum.

This authorization, valid for the next three years, will allow these institutions to enrol students in an intermediate degree programme, provided they meet certain criteria.

Predominantly, the schools with sufficient infrastructure and land will get the green light to progress to Plus Two status.

This step aligns with the new educational policy, which advocates that schools should extend education up to the 12th grade.

The Department of School Education and Literacy recently requested the necessary documents, ensuring the students’ ability to enrol in the Inter course next year would be unimpeded.

Previously, there had been a delay in the modernisation of 20 schools, despite the proposal having been submitted to the Directorate of Secondary Education last year, following the consent received in a District Education Establishment Committee meeting.

In the forthcoming days, all the model schools are slated to transition into plus-two schools, as part of a grand scheme to upgrade 65 high schools.

Research is currently underway by the state government to facilitate this process, given that the current educational policy disallows the pursuit of intermediate studies at institutions that confer degrees.

While high schools will undergo a transformation into plus twos, 19 currently operating model middle schools in the district are anticipated to ascend to high school status.

The proposed renovations of schools come as part of an effort to enhance the quality of education in the East Singhbhum district.
