National Metallurgical Laboratory in Jamshedpur held an educational visit, educating students about scientific projects and intellectual property rights.
JAMSHEDPUR – A city-based organization, National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), successfully hosted an educational visit on Friday.
Part of the broader "Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav," "Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav," and the "CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Lab Integration Programme," this event primarily aimed at honing students’ scientific aptitude and raising awareness about intellectual property rights.
Notably, 189 students and five instructors from Jamshedpur Public School, BPM High School, and Kasidih High School had the opportunity to partake in the programme at the CSIR lab.
The visit was initiated with a warm welcome by Mita Tarafder, the head of the KRIT Division.
She briefly introduced the attendees to the CSIR and the various scientific endeavors it is undertaking.
Furthermore, she touched upon the importance of the "Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav" for the present-day awareness of intellectual property.
Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist and Project Leader for the CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory Project, emphasized the significance of scientific-social responsibility, outlining various pursuits undertaken by CSIR-NML within the Jigyasa Programme.
The attendees were guided through several research facilities, including AAC, Creep, engineering workshops, and museums, besides archives and libraries.
The students and teachers also took part in a lecture series titled "Intellectual Property (IP) Rights-An Awareness Programme for School Students," facilitated by the RPBD Division of CSIR-NML.
Chief Scientist & Head, RPBD Division, CSIR-NML, S.K. Pal interacted with the attendees, after which a science quiz was organized.
The event concluded with a vote of appreciation and a group photograph with all participants.
