Youthful chess enthusiasts in Jamshedpur gathered for International Chess Day, with engaging discussions about the upcoming Asian Junior and Under-9 National Championships.
JAMSHEDPUR – The spirit of International Chess Day was vibrant in Jamshedpur as the Saraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association and the East Singhbhum District Chess Association co-hosted a festive celebration. The event took place at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on July 20, under the patronage of the Tata Chess Centre.
Chief of Sports Excellence Centres, TFA & Sports, Mukul Vinayak Choudhary, made an appearance, extending warm wishes to the city’s young chess devotees. He also provided intriguing details about the forthcoming Asian Junior Chess Championship due in September.
In a riveting address to the assembly, Manoj Kumar, the president of the Saraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association, discussed the many advantages of chess. He further spurred the youth to participate in the Under-9 National Championship lined up for November.
NK Tiwari, Secretary of the East Singhbhum District Chess Association, coordinated the celebration, while Chess Coach Jayant Kumar Bhuyan concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
Notable attendees included Vice President Binod Singh, Chess Coach Chandan Kumar Prasad, Raju Chaudhary, Raj Kumar Singh, and Patron Rajib Verma, from the Saraikela-Kharsawan District Chess Association. Secretary Ajay Kumar, Joint Secretary Abhishek Sharma, Treasurer Vikram Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Chandan Kumar Prasad, and Soukhin Pramanik were also present, adding further weight and sparkle to the occasion.
