Illicit Alcohol Factory Unearthed in Area Adjoining Dalma
JAMSHEDPUR – In a raid carried out on Tuesday morning, excise officials exposed an illegal alcohol manufacturing operation in the Dalma foothills.
The operation was set up in the Khadiya Basti of Kathjod, under the Chilgu Panchayat within the jurisdiction of the Chandil police station.
The raid, directed by Product Department Officer Nirbhay Kumar Sinha, resulted in the recovery of 31 packages of foreign spirits brands. Additionally, the officials discovered cork, lid, and label stickers for these brands, as well as numerous empty bottles.
Excise officials carried out the raid at a house in Khadiya Basti, where they seized various ingredients used to produce counterfeit alcohol.
"Two people were taken into custody during the operation, while two other individuals, who were in charge of the illicit fake spirits production, have managed to evade capture," said Nirbhay Kumar Sinha.
The individuals arrested were identified as Motilal Singh, a resident of Pathardih, and Kanhai Singh, a resident of Kathjod. Dheeraj Singh, a resident of Mango Basti, and Kalia Gope, a resident of Chilgu, who were allegedly in charge of the illegal operation, are currently on the run.
The discovery of the illicit distillery was made on July 14 within a border wall beneath the Dalma forest near Birigoda, near the Chandil Police Station.
The raid was conducted by a special squad, the Product Department, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Chandil, and the then-station in-charge under the guidance of Kolhan’s DIG Ajay Linda.
