Private Security Guard Cheated of Rs 24,000 in ATM Scam in Mango’s Pardih

An ATM scam in Mango’s Pardih leaves a private security guard, Ratanlal, deprived of Rs 24,000 by a group of three youngsters posing as engineers.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a shocking instance of fraud, three young miscreants deceived Ratanlal, a private security guard, and withdrew Rs 24,000 from his account at an ATM in Pardih under Azad Nagar thana region of Mango on Tuesday.

Ratanlal had gone to withdraw cash from the ATM, but his card got stuck in the machine.

Three teenagers, who were nearby, approached Ratanlal and offered to assist him.

Presenting one of their accomplices as an engineer, the duo assured Ratanlal that their friend would solve the problem.

Ratanlal was convinced to leave the ATM premises by the fake engineer, who assured him that his card would be retrieved and delivered to his home.

Believing the imposter, Ratanlal started for the latter’s supposed home in Nimdih block.

While en route, he received an SMS alert notifying him about a withdrawal of Rs 24,000 from his account.

Alarmed, Ratanlal cycled back to the ATM, only to find it deserted.

He immediately lodged an FIR at the Azad Nagar thana, accusing the fraudsters of duping him.

Azad Nagar police have classified the case as a cybercrime and initiated an investigation.
