Gumla police, investigating a railway job scam, raid Bokaro residences in search of a woman-led gang that defrauded youths of Rs 17 lakh.
BOKARO – A team of Gumla police arrived in Bokaro to locate a group of women accused of defrauding unemployed youths of Rs 17 lakh with promises of railway jobs.
Gumla Chainpur police officer Rajesh Kumar, along with Bokaro city, sector four, and women’s police, conducted a joint raid on a residence, number 837, in sector three of the city police station area.
During the raid, a girl who had been brought from Kolkata’s Chandannagar a week earlier was found at the location.
She had allegedly been brought under the guise of working as a nanny.
The police are currently interrogating the girl in custody.
The woman residing in the house and her male associate were not present during the raid and are currently absconding.
The officer from Gumla revealed that a case regarding a 17 lakh rupees scam linked to railway jobs has been registered at Chainpur police station.
Four youths, including swindle victim Sumit Kumar, accompanied the police to the Bokaro residence.
These defrauded youths reported that they had been brought from Chainpur to the aforementioned Bokaro residence after being charged money for railway job assurances.
An FIR has been filed against the alleged scamming women gang at Chainpur police station.
The police officer stated that the suspects are yet to be identified.
A young woman has been detained following the joint raid with Bokaro police to aid in verifying the situation and identifying the suspects.
Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, the police team said.
