Railway Police Seizes Ganja Worth Rs 3.45 Lakh from Kurla Express at Tatanagar Station

Joint Operation by GRP and RPF Leads to Recovery of 17.25 kg of Ganja

The Railway Police recovered approximately 17.25 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs 3.45 lakh, from a compartment of the Kurla Express train stationed at platform number three of Tatanagar Railway Station during a joint operation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Acting on confidential information, the flying team of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a raid on the Kurla Express train parked at platform number three of Tatanagar Railway Station, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of ganja.

The intelligence suggested that an individual was occupying seat number 9 in bogie B of the train, carrying the contraband substance.

Upon receiving the tip, the Railway Police swiftly launched the operation, with the Bagbera and Parsudih police also arriving at the scene to provide support.

The joint pressure applied by the police forces resulted in the recovery of two briefcases and a bag, which collectively contained about 17 kg 250 grams of ganja.

The estimated market value of the seized ganja is said to be approximately Rs 3 lakh 45 thousand.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the seat in question was booked under the name of Firoz Ansari.

The police are currently conducting further inquiries to gather more information about Firoz Ansari and his involvement in the case.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the suspect, upon noticing the arrival of the police, abandoned the bag and fled the scene.

The police have launched a search operation to apprehend Firoz Ansari and bring him in for questioning.

The successful operation highlights the vigilance and coordination among the Railway Police, GRP, and RPF in combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of passengers on trains.

The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on the illegal transportation of narcotics and other prohibited substances through the railway network.
