Gumla Police Apprehends Four TPC Militants Involved in Extortion and Hostage-Taking

Weapons, Ammunition, and Mobile Phones Recovered; Accused Previously Associated with CPI Maoist and JJMP

In a significant crackdown on militant activities, the Gumla Police in Jharkhand have successfully arrested four militants associated with the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC). The arrested individuals were found to be in possession of weapons, including guns and bullets, along with mobile phones.

RANCHI – The Gumla Police in Jharkhand have made a major breakthrough in their fight against militant activities by arresting four TPC militants.

The arrested individuals were found to be in possession of weapons, including guns and bullets, as well as mobile phones, which have been seized by the police.

The militants had recently resorted to violence and extortion, targeting workers engaged in the construction of a bridge on the North Koel river in Gumla.

They had beaten up the workers and held them hostage, demanding a levy of Rs 25 lakh before leaving the construction site.

The police took the incident seriously and formed a dedicated team to investigate and apprehend the culprits.

The arrested militants have been identified as Keshwar Lohra (36 years) from Chorkakhand village under Gurdari police station, Heera Oraon (36 years) from Sugitoli village under Gumla police station, Naika Oraon alias Chhotu (24 years) from Duko village under Ghaghra police station, and Lakhiram Oraon (35 years).

During the operation, the police recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the militants, including four 315 bore rifles, 86 8 mm bullets, two magazines, and two pistols.

Additionally, three mobile phones were also seized from their possession.

To ensure a thorough investigation and swift action, the Gumla Police had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of SDPO Gumla Suresh Prasad Yadav.

The team conducted raids based on intelligence gathered and successfully arrested the four militants.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals had previously been associated with the Communist Party of India (Maoist) before joining the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP).

However, a few months ago, they had shifted their allegiance to the TPC organization.

The arrest of these militants is a significant step towards maintaining law and order in the region and preventing extortion and violence against civilians.

The Gumla Police’s swift action and successful operation serve as a warning to other militant groups operating in the area.

The police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people and will continue their efforts to crack down on militant activities and bring the perpetrators to justice.
