Karandih Residents in Jamshedpur Demand Ban on Multi-Storey Flat Construction
In Jamshedpur, Karandih villagers, fearing a deeper water crisis, request a ban on multi-storey flat constructions, intensifying construction protests.
JAMSHEDPUR – Local villagers reached the Deputy Commissioner’s office along with the village head to demand a ban on the construction of multi-storey flats being built in Karandih area.
A memorandum was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner demanding a ban on the construction of multi-storey flats as soon as possible.
The water level is significantly dropping in Jamshedpur, especially in the rural areas.
If multi-storey flats are constructed, the water crisis will deepen in the whole area.
At present, the construction work of multi-storey flats in South Karandih and North Karandih is progressing rapidly.
This construction work has been started without the permission of the Gram Sabha and the flats are being built without an approved map.
A day ago, the villagers of Karandih area called the Gram Sabha and unanimously decided to stop the construction work.
The villagers, led by village head Sankul Soren, visited the rural Deputy Commissioner’s office and informed the Deputy Commissioner about their concerns.
The villagers stated that they would not allow the construction of flats in the area under any circumstances, even if they had to escalate the situation.
They believe that the construction of flats will lead to an increase in water and dirt problems, putting the existence of the villagers at risk, causing widespread concern and anger among them.
