Jamshedpur officials, villagers, and Tata Steel engage in inconclusive talks over a disputed 14-acre parcel near Dimna Dam.
JAMSHEDPUR – A tripartite dialogue occurred between the district administration, Tata Steel, and the locals from villages surrounding Jamshedpur’s Dimna Dam.
This dialogue was attended by numerous villagers.
Tata Steel asserts ownership of the land surrounding Dimna Dam, but the local villagers insist that the 14 acres 72 decimals is rightfully theirs.
Tata Steel maintains that the land dispute was settled in 2000 following High Court instructions, at which time the then Deputy Commissioner invalidated the settlement.

However, villagers counter by saying that from 2000 to 2015 they paid rent for the land.
The tripartite dialogue ended without a resolution.
Villagers resolutely state that they will not surrender their land under any circumstance.
Among those present at the meeting were the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur, the CO station in-charge of the Bodam area, Tata Steel officers, and Tata Steel USIL officials.
When approached for comment, Tata Steel officials declined to provide a clear response.
Similarly, the CO offered no comment regarding the land dispute.
