Dengue Cases Spike in Jamshedpur: Essential Preventive Measures Highlighted

Increasing dengue cases in Jamshedpur trigger serious health concerns, advice on prevention offered.

JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Jujhar Majhi, a leading civil physician in East Singhbhum, has urged local residents to be vigilant against dengue, a deadly illness posing an escalating risk in Jamshedpur.

According to Dr. Majhi, the disease is marked by symptoms such as high fever, body rashes, headaches, and muscular or joint discomfort, with potential for serious complications including bleeding and shock.

The city hospitals are witnessing a rising influx of dengue cases every day. Since January, there have been 38 confirmed cases, 22 of them registered in June and July alone.

On Friday, six more cases tested positive, including a 2.5-year-old toddler who is now under treatment at Dr. Abhishek Child Care in Sakchi.

Brahmanand Hospital is treating four patients, while one patient is receiving care at Mercy Hospital in Baridih.

At Tata Main Hospital, six patients are currently being treated for dengue, including two suspected cases, up from four earlier. A patient with suspected dengue symptoms is also undergoing treatment at Tata Motors Hospital in the Telco neighbourhood.

In 2022, there were 32 confirmed cases of dengue.

The disease is transmitted to humans by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito, which has the unique characteristic of biting during daylight hours.

To effectively avoid dengue, residents are advised to focus on prevention strategies particularly during hours following dawn and preceding dusk when the mosquitoes are most active.
