Complaints of Insects Being Found in Tap Water Supplied by Tata Steel UISL in Jamshedpur
Residents have reported the presence of insects in the drinking water supplied by Tata Steel UISL in several areas in Jamshedpur. Tata Steel UISL is currently investigating the issue.
JAMSHEDPUR – A troubling issue has arisen as local residents reported the presence of insects in the drinking water supplied by Tata Steel Urban Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL) (formerly known as Jusco).
The insects were discovered in the water from the taps in several residences across Tata’s command area on Friday.
A representative from Tata Steel UISL, in response to the numerous complaints from consumers about the presence of worms in the supply water, hinted that there was an issue with the main supply line.
Despite the three-stage filtration process they undertake, the presence of worms was reported.
The company is actively investigating the issue and promises swift action to rectify the problem.
Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has been informed about the issue and has expressed his concern over the deteriorating quality of the drinking water. While away in Palamau, he received the complaints and immediately contacted Rituraj Sinha, the managing director of TSUISL. He also shared screen photos of the complaints along with the complainants’ contact details.
Despite these actions, the water quality remained unchanged, he said. Residents from Kashidih, Cable Town, Vijayanagar, and Bajrang Basti continue to lodge complaints about the water quality.
Saryu Roy is urging TSUISL to identify the cause behind the degradation in water quality and find a swift solution.
The statement released by Roy’s office mentions that similar issues have been faced by customers of the Moharda drinking water project in the past. However, the sudden influx of complaints from the Tata Lease settlements in Jamshedpur is unexpected.
