JAMSHEDPUR – Rail police arrested a notorious pickpocket, Tauseef Ali, near Tatanagar Railway Station. Ali, a resident of Azadnagar, Mango, was caught on November 23 after an investigation linked him to a ₹20,000 theft on November 4.
The theft occurred near Entry Gate-2 at the reservation counter. The victim reported the incident, leading the police to identify Ali through surveillance and records. Police sources revealed that Ali has a criminal past involving thefts at railway stations, including mobile snatching.
The police had been monitoring Ali for a long time. An officer stated, "His arrest might lead to disclosures about more thefts." They urged the public to report suspicious activities immediately.
The rail police have advised passengers to remain vigilant about their belongings, especially cash and valuables, at stations. Surveillance has been intensified to curb such incidents.
Ali’s previous offenses include several reported cases of pickpocketing and mobile theft. His frequent targeting of busy railway hubs made him a prime suspect in recent thefts.
