Woman Dies Post-Delivery in Bokaro: Hospital Management Faces Heat

Bokaro woman succumbs following childbirth; Family and officials accuse hospital management of negligence, demand action.

BOKARO – Faledran Prajapati, a resident of Lalpania Kodwa Tand, admitted his 24-year-old pregnant wife, Monika Devi, to the Gomia Community Health Center in Bokaro district for childbirth.

Upon admission, hospital staff estimated that delivery would occur in due course.

By 7:00 am the next morning, Monika had given birth but her health soon began to deteriorate.

Monica’s husband requested that she be referred for advanced treatment.

Nearly two hours later, a 108 ambulance was dispatched to Bokaro Sadar Hospital.

En route, Monika’s condition worsened, leading to her death before they could reach the hospital.

Furious family members brought Monika’s body back to the Gomia Community Health Center, demanding action against those responsible.

Gomia MLA Dr. Lambodar Mahato, upon hearing of the incident, visited the hospital and met with the bereaved relatives.

He condemned the hospital management, accusing them of negligence, and pledged his support to the family.

Former MLA Yogendra Prasad also pointed to the negligence of doctors, arguing that, despite seven doctors being appointed, the task of delivery was handled by a nurse.

He has informed the Deputy Commissioner and called for action against those responsible.

Gomia CO Sandeep Anurag Topno, CI Lalmohan Das, Gomia police station in-charge Rajesh Ranjan, Kathara OP in-charge Prince Kumar, Lalpania police station in-charge Subodh Das, Saani Anuj Kumar, along with BJP leader Devnarayan Prajapati, Zila Parishad member Dr Surendra Raj, Sandeep Swarnakar, Ajay Ranjan, were present at the hospital.
