9-hour Roadblock in Patmada during Jharkhand Bandh, Widespread Impact Seen
Jharkhand bandh by Olchiki Hul Baisi results in a major roadblock in Patmada, causing disruption for nine continuous hours.
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand bandh called by Olchiki Hul Baisi on Tuesday had a significant impact in the Patmada area.
Members of the Santal community, armed with traditional weapons, blocked the main road in Patmada as early as 6 a.m.
The blockade lasted for a strenuous nine hours, ending around 3:30 p.m., much to the relief of the local people.
Emergency and school vehicles were allowed to pass, but commercial and private vehicles traveling to Jamshedpur for medical reasons were halted for hours.
With growing crowds, the protestors closed all bypass roads, including the Tata-Patmada main route, causing a long queue of stranded vehicles.
Efforts by Patmada CO Chandrashekhar Tiwari, Circle Inspector Mohan Kumar, and station in-charge Ranjit Kumar Singh to negotiate with the protestors and remove the blockade proved futile.
Long-distance travelers were severely inconvenienced due to this prolonged stalemate.
Leaders like Committee President Jeetu Lal Murmu, Secretary Diwakar Tudu, and Zilla Parishad member Pradeep Besra were among the key participants in the bandh.
