BJP Leader Praveen Singh Calls for Judicial Inquiry into Abhay Singh’s Arrest
Praveen Singh, a BJP leader and former MLC, demanded a high-level, impartial inquiry into the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh and others and also into the subsequent police action.
RANCHI – In the wake of recent violence in Shastri Nagar in Jamshedpur, BJP leader and former MLC Praveen Singh has demanded a judicial inquiry into the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh and others and also the subsequent police action.
Singh called for a press conference in Ranchi today, expressing concerns about the police action against certain communities and political parties in the city.
Praveen Singh questioned the arrest of BJP leader Abhay Singh and other leaders of Hindu organizations by the SSP Prabhat Kumar.
He demanded an impartial high-level inquiry into the matter by a retired judge, alleging that the Jamshedpur Police was acting under the influence of State Health Minister Banna Gupta, who is also an MLA of Jamshedpur West.
Singh stated that this biased action was leading to targeted harassment of leaders of a particular community and was deteriorating the city’s atmosphere.
The BJP leader also announced plans to meet the Union Home Minister, where he will present evidence of questionable actions of the police department.
Additionally, he has also sought an appointment with the state’s Chief Minister to discuss the matter, he said.
It may be recalled that the city of Jamshedpur had witnessed a communal flare-up, involving stone-pelting and arson, on April 8th, with the crowd even attacking the local police.
Several police personnel were injured in the incident.
Praveen Singh said that if the government fails to address this issue, his party would stage protests across Jharkhand.
BJP leader Abhay Singh was arrested in connection with the communal flare-up in Shashtri Nagar on June 10th.
Ever since his arrest, BJP has been staging demonstrations across Kolhan and demanding his release.
