Former BJP leaders defend their innocence in Jamshedpur court, related to an alleged case of poster burning seventeen years ago.
JAMSHEDPUR – Former BJP leaders, today, appeared in the Jamshedpur District Sessions Court regarding a case dating back seventeen years. They claimed the charges against them were false.
The case, initially lodged by the AJSU party, revolved around the charge of burning a hoarding poster of the then state minister, Chandra Prakash Chaudhary, at Mango Chowk.
Ten individuals were accused at the time.
However, three of them have since passed away, and one, Jagdish Singh Munda, is suffering from paralysis, causing him significant physical difficulties.
The death certificates for Chandrabhan Singh, Narayan Das Rajak, and Tarak Mukherjee were submitted to the court by advocate Rajhans Tiwari. Paralyzed and unable to walk or speak, Jagdish Singh Munda was brought to the judge with great difficulty in a wheelchair, taking nearly two hours to reach the court due to barricading.
One of the accused, Vikas Singh, claimed that the poster burning incident was a result of public dissatisfaction over the delayed start of a drinking water supply scheme during Chandra Prakash Chaudhary’s tenure as the Minister of Drinking Water Sanitation.
BJP leaders, including Vikas Singh, Subodh Srivastava, Mukul Mishra, Vijay Tiwari, Ganga Prasad Sahu, Neelkamal Shekhar, were among those implicated in the case. All are presently on bail.
The court has acknowledged the time elapsed since the case began and has resolved to conclude it.
Today, all the accused came together in court to challenge the case, professing their innocence and urging the court for an honorable acquittal.
Advocate Rajhans Tiwari, representing all the accused, said that his clients were innocent.
