Inauguration of New Parliament Building Insults Constitution, Claims Brinda Karat
Brinda Karat, CPI Politburo member, criticizes the inauguration of the new Parliament building, labeling it a constitutional insult.
BOKARO – Brinda Karat, a Politburo member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), voiced strong objections to the inauguration of the new Parliament building during her two-day visit to Bokaro for a CPI State Committee meeting.
She deemed the inauguration as an “affront to the constitution” and an “attack on the constitution.”
Karat criticized the Prime Minister’s attempt to consolidate his dual roles into a singular position, an action she perceives as improper.

Consequently, the CPI (M), along with other opposition parties, is poised to oppose the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
Karat also expressed disapproval towards the decision to retain the sengol or the sceptre of kings and emperors in the Parliament House, arguing that it reflects the government’s perspective on the Parliament, the Republic, and India’s democratic system.
In her opinion, the manner in which the inauguration of the Parliament House is being handled seems to undermine the spirit and the parliamentary system of India.
