Koda, who was the son of Carrie Koda, was out plucking jungle leaves with his family members when he stepped on a pressure-sensitive IED around 6:30 pm, causing it to detonate.

The explosion was so powerful that it resulted in the boy’s immediate death and mutilation of his body.

Tonto police, with assistance from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were able to recover the body on Friday and sent it to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for postmortem examinations.

It’s suspected that the Naxalites, who have been responsible for multiple instances of violence and unrest in the area, had planted the IED with the intention of harming local law enforcement officers.
