Jamshedpur Court Denies Bail to Nine Accused in Shastri Nagar Violence Case
Jamshedpur Court denies bail to nine accused, including Sudhanshu Ojha, in Shastri Nagar violence case, all facing charges of disturbing peace, harmony, and causing a nuisance.
Jamshedpur – The Jamshedpur Court rejected the bail petitions of nine people on Monday in connection with the Shastri Nagar violence case under Kadma police station jurisdiction.
All nine accused, lodged in Ghaghidih Jail, faced charges of disturbing peace, harmony, and causing a nuisance in Shastri Nagar.
Police arrested the accused on April 10 and subsequently sent them to jail. Those denied bail include Sudhanshu Ojha, Ranjit Pandit, Umesh Singh, Sandeep Pandey, Gopi Pramanik, Anand Kumar Sah, Mohd. Oelnime, and Vitesh Kumar.
The violence erupted on April 9 in Shastri Nagar, Kadma, following an incident that hurt religious sentiments.
Clashes between two communities involved fierce sloganeering, stone-pelting, and necessitated police intervention.
The police deployed the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and other forces to control the situation, resorting to lathi-charging and firing tear gas into the air as a warning.
Miscreants responded by pelting stones at the police, leading to the imposition of Section 144 in Kadma.
