Shopkeepers Protest Boundary Wall Construction by Manipal College in Baridih, Jamshedpur
Local Businesses Fear Closure as College Boundary Wall Construction Cuts Off Access to Baridih Market
JAMSHEDPUR – The construction of a boundary wall by Manipal College in Baridih, under the jurisdiction of Sidhgora police station in Jamshedpur, has sparked protests among local residents and shopkeepers.

The wall, which effectively closes off access to the Baridih market, threatens the livelihoods of hundreds of shopkeepers who have been doing business there for years.
In response to the situation, the shopkeepers have closed the market and taken to the streets in protest.
They were joined by the Congress party, which has pledged its support for their cause.

The District president of the Congress party, Anand Bihari Dubey, has joined the agitation and the protests, expressing concern for the shopkeepers and their businesses.
Dubey stated that the problems faced by the shopkeepers would be addressed through meetings and discussions with Manipal College’s management.

He emphasized that the sudden closure of the road leading to the market would put an end to the businesses of these shopkeepers, urging the college’s management to consider the impact of their actions on the local community.
He said that the protests highlight the need to understand the demands of the local vendors carefully and even while developing educational institutions there should be an effort to preserve local businesses.

The locals hope that further talks and negotiations between the shopkeepers and Manipal College’s management would help resolve the issue.
