Jamshedpur citizens throng at Gopal Maidan to witness second edition of Classic and Vintage Car & Bike Rally

Jamshedpur: Large number of citizens of Steel City today thronged Gopal Maidan to witness second edition of Jamshedpur Classic and Vintage Car & Bike Rally as part of the 184th Founder’s Day celebrations.

Around 70 vehicles have already reached to the venue presenting mesmerizing show for the audiences. Some more vehicles are on the way and will directly participate tomorrow morning in the rally, which will be flagged off by T V Narendran, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel in the presence of other senior leaders from the company and the key stakeholders of Jamshedpur.

Manufacture period of vehicles on display are between1926 to 1983. The event has scaled up from last year. Last year, participants were only from Jharkhand – Jamshedpur, Ranchi and Chaibasa. This year, entries also from West Bengal (Kolkata) and Odisha (Keonjhar) too. Landmarks which will be covered during the rally tomorrow are Bharucha Mansion, Jubilee Park, United Club, Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Keenan Stadium and St. George’s Church.

Started in 2022 as part of its efforts to conserve and nurture India’s Sports, Arts and Culture, Tata Steel expects to make the Jamshedpur Rally not only the most sought after event in Jamshedpur during Founder`s Day celebrations, but in India too. The growing popularity of the rally is already evidenced by the doubling of the number of participating vehicles in its second edition itself, which is over 80.

The oldest vehicle participating this year is a 1926 edition Austin 7 car that is also known as Baby Austin among Classic and Vintage vehicle enthusiasts. The youngest vehicle to participate in the second edition of the rally will be a 1983 Fiat. These vehicles are not only from Jamshedpur but also from Ranchi, Chaibasa, Kolkata, Barajamda and Keonjhar covering states of Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.

The first edition of the rally that was held last year as part of the 183rd Founder`s Day celebration honouring the vision and memory of the Company’s and Tata Group’s founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. More than 40 vehicles participated in the rally last year.
