Governor pays respects to Bhagwan Birsa Munda soon after taking oath

Ranchi: C.P. Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 11th Governor of Jharkhand Saturday at the Raj Bhawan in the state capital Ranchi.

Various dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Cabinet Ministers, MPs, and MLAs, and the oath of office and secrecy was administered by Aparesh Kumar Singh, Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

Mr. Radhakrishnan, 65, who previously served as a Lok Sabha member from Coimbatore for two terms, succeeded Ramesh Bais, who had served as Governor of Jharkhand since July 2021.

In his official Facebook post, the Governor remarked: “Proud and Honoured to be sworn in as the Governor of Jharkhand today with all your blessings and good wishes.”

Soon after being administered the oath of office, the Governor visited Ulihatu, the birth place of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and paid his respects to the hero of Jharkhand.

Later, the Governor remarked: “Upon taking office as the Governor of Jharkhand, I am very proud to visit Ulihatu, Khunti, the birth place of Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji and pay my heartfelt tributes. I am also very proud to have got the opportunity to meet his descendants.”

Before being appointed the Governor of Jharkhand, Mr. Radhakrishnan was a prominent BJP leader in Tamil Nadu.
