Passenger urinates on female co-passenger aboard Air India flight

A female passenger was urinated on by a fellow passenger on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi.

The incident dates back to November 26, but has come to light now after the woman passenger wrote a letter to Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran.

Tata Group-owned Air India has acknowledged the incident, news reports said.

Reports, quoting the airline, said it had set up an internal inquiry committee and recommended that the passenger responsible for the incident be put on the ‘no-fly’ list.

No one can board a plane once it is listed as a ‘no-fly’.

On the other hand, the Civil Aviation department has also separately asked Air India for details of the incident.

According to the report, the incident happened when the light was dimmed after the food was served.

The female passenger wrote in the complaint that when the lights inside the plane were dimmed after serving food, a man came in front of her and started urinating by untying his pant chain. The man was completely inebriated.

The woman alleged that the male passenger was standing there for some time after urinating. Other passengers removed the man. Her clothes, shoes, bag all got wet.

After complaining to the airline staff, her seat was initially sprayed with disinfectant, but she was not allowed to sit on another seat even though there was another vacant seat in the business class, the woman alleged.

Later, she was given only a fresh set of clothes by the flight attendants and her seat was covered with a sheet.

The female passenger wrote in the complaint that even after the flight staff landed in Delhi, the flight staff did not make any attempt to stop the person.
