Jamshedpur doctors go on 1-day strike
IMA Jamshedpur demands action against persons responsible for Dr Archana Sharma’s demise
Jamshedpur: To register their protest against the alleged harassment of a Rajasthan doctor allegedly resulting in her suicide, the doctors of Jamshedpur Saturday went on a one-day strike and demanded stringent action against the persons responsible for the doctor’s death.
OPD services are affected by the strike. However, various hospitals and health centres provided emergency services.
Members of the Jamshedpur unit of the Indian Medical Association organized a sit-in near the Jamshedpur collector to express their protest.
They claimed that Dr. Archana was killed by those who drove her to commit suicide.
Dr Sourav Choudhary, Secretary of IMA Jamshedpur, said: “Doctors across India are in a state of shock. Doctors have long-standing demand for the implementation of the Healthcare Protection Act in all the states. Due to the delay in this implementation of this Act, doctors are being attacked wantonly in different parts of the country.”
He said that the IMA will no longer tolerate such incidents.
He said that the agitation will continue until the culprits responsible for Dr. Archana’s death are arrested.
