Jamshedpur celebrates Holi in style with modernity and DJ twist

Jamshedpur: Holi was also celebrated in Jamshedpur on Friday as well as Saturday. In style and with unbounden energy, ignoring all the restrictions mandated by corona-scared governments and parents.

Credit the differences among pundits over Bhadra Tithi timings and a lack of clarity over which date to celebrate Holi on for the two days of untramelled joy that the common folks were endowed with.

Holi this year has been special, mainly because there has been some respite from corona during the last few weeks.

Friday saw a large number of people celebrating holi in traditional manner. On Saturday too the celebrations continued as the rest of the population continued with the celebrations.

A lot of enthusiasm was seen among women and girls too.

Groups of women came out of the houses in the morning and wished Holi by applying abir and gulal on one another.

Women had made special arrangements to make Holi memorable this year.

Children too were seen splashing colours. The entire city is immersed in the celebrations and joy of Holi.

It is not that holi this year went without a fair amount of ruckus and hooliganism.

Some amount of rule violations and hullabaloo is allowed in holi.

Groups were also seen with drums-jhal-manjire at the square intersections.

And the way of celebrating Holi is also changing fast with some inputs of modernity.

In many cases, Dhol-Jhal-Manjire is now being replaced by DJ.

Although Holi has always been celebrated in traditional manner in Jamshedpur, these days DJs are also being used and celebratory events are being organised in hotels by those who can afford to do so.

On one hand, while the traditional Holi has been celebrated in most of the localities, the younger generation was seen celebrating Holi over DJ tunes in posh hotels and restaurants too.

In an upmarket hotel in Jamshedpur, youths danced to folk songs and celebrated Holi.

Use of DJs in Holi is a new trend that is fast catching on.

Good or bad? The opinion is still divided and depends on whose opinion you seek.

There are many who feel it is difficult to make value judgments as to whether this change in celebration methods is good or bad.

Holi has always brought joy with it. And joy is evident in all parts of city. On all faces that can be recognized or go unrecognized.

Holi being celebrated in Jamshedpur with fervour.
