Badminton Association of Jharkhand formed, 2-day tournament from Sep 18

To promote badminton in Jharkhand, a Badminton Association of Jharkhand has been formed. It would be activated in all districts. Dinesh Kumar will head it as president. Vijay Singh is vice-president, Rajiv Sengupta secretary and Md. Rashid would be treasurer.

Jamshedpur: Badminton Association of Jharkhand has been formed in the state. The stated objective is protection, promotion and upliftment of badminton players in Jharkhand.

Under the Societies Registration Act 1860, the body was registered two years ago.

Dinesh Kumar has been made the president of the Association, while Vice President’s responsibility has gone to Vijay Singh. Rajiv Sengupta will be the secretary, while Mohd Rashid has been chosen as treasurer.

Many badminton players and experienced referees were also included in the Association.

In a press conference held at a hotel in Sakchi on Sunday, the President of Badminton Association of Jharkhand, Dinesh Kumar said that the initiative was started on the action plan to expand this sports organisation from Jamshedpur to the entire state.

People are joining almost in all the districts, he said. Very soon the committee will be expanded in the districts too.

He said that a two-day badminton tournament would be organised at Telco Club from September 18.

He said that the preparations for the tourney have been completed.

The tournament would have singles and doubles in men’s categories, while singles and doubles of masters and doubles matches in mixed category will also be played.

The tournament will have Alok Nobel as the chief judge, Ranjit Kumar Singh as the deputy judge and Raju Kumar as the match controller.

All these above mentioned officials are national level badminton referees.

He said that there is a fixed fee for entering the tournament. 400/- for singles and Rs.800/- for doubles.

Dinesh Kumar, Rajiv Sengupta, Vijay Kumar Singh, Alok Nobel, Raju Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
