Women’s police intervention leads to marriage

Jamshedpur: A boy, who had refused to marry a girl after a courtship of about 3 years, finally relented and agreed to marry. The intervention of women’s police station worked and the boy and the girl were married off in the presence of community leaders.

The family members of the boy did not attend the marriage. However, the marriage was completed without their presence in the presence of community members.

According to police sources, the youth belongs to Kushwaha community and lives in Mango Sankosai for the last 3 years.

After knowing about their affair, the girl’s family pressurised the boy to marry the girl. However, the boy refused to marry.

On Monday, the family members of the girl reached the women’s police station and sought justice in the matter.

The youth, 21, P K Mahato had a 3-year-old affair with the girl N Kumari.

On Monday, the girl’s family reached the women’s police station and pleaded for justice.

The girl N Kumari too is 21 and a resident of Sankosai Ulidih.

The boy was asked to marry the girl by community members as well as members of BJP Mahila Morcha.

However, the boy refused to marry the girl.

Later, on the complaint of the family members of the girl, he was called to the police station. Even at the police station he refused to marry her.

He had to stay at the police station overnight, while the police officers persuaded him to agree to marry.

In the morning, he gave his consent to marry and the couple was married off at Sakchi Sheetla Mandir in the presence of the community members.

The newly married couple has now gone to the boy’s home.
