Tata Motors Hospital contract sanitation workers complain of unfair labour practices
Jamshedpur: Sanitation workers of Tata Motors Hospital, which is counted among the best hospitals of the city, submitted a memorandum tot he Deputy Labour Commissioner alleging inhuman treatment by the housekeeping contractor of the hospital.
The sanitation workers of the hospital submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Labour Commissioner and complained of unfair labour practices.
The district president of Jharkhand Mazdoor Union, Kishore Mukhi, representing the sanitation workers, said that the housekeeping contractor does not treat them well. He said that more than 150 sanitation workers are working in the hospital. However, whenever they complain against irregular wage payment or whenever they demand gratuity, wage increase and other benefits, the contractor threatens them to sack from work.
He said that the employees who oppose such excesses are removed from work.
He urged the Deputy Labour Commissioner to probe the entire matter and ensure that the workers get justice in the matter.
He also warned that if Tata Motors Hospital management and the DLC office do not take action against the concerned contractor, they the workers would be forced to intensify their stir.
