6 travellers from UK tested, found negative for corona
Jamshedpur: Six persons who have recently arrived in the city from the United Kingdom have been tested for Covid-19 and all were found negative for the virus. The fact that none of the persons coming from UK were infected came as a big relief to the surveillance department of the city.
It may be added here that a new strain of coronavirus has been reported in Britain. The new variant has been reported to have greater transmissibility and has surprised many countries in Europe. The new variant has already been detected in Spain and a few other countries, including Japan, which is quite far from the UK.
While Indian government too discontinued flights from UK, an effort was also launched to trace all those who have arrived from UK recently.
Six persons have been identified as having returned to the city in recent times from the UK.
The surveillance team was successful in tracing all those six persons. RT PCR tests were conducted for them. All six were found free of infection from coronavirus. This brought a big sigh of relief for the surveillance department.
The surveillance officer Dr. Sahir Paul said that all the six persons were found healthy and free of infection and their tests were found negative. However, all have also been put on home quarantine and their condition is being closely monitored.
He appealed to the citizens of Jamshedpur to not be worried about the new variant of the virus being detected in other countries. He said that the government is doing its work and is keeping a close watch on the situation as it develops.
