Shaheed Smarak Samity to rename Sakchi Gol Chakkar as Birsa Chowk on Jharkhand Foundation Day

No official sanction or announcement, but Samity resolves to do Pathalgadi

Jamshedpur: Shaheed Smarak Samity has announced that it would rename Sakchi Gol Chakkar as Bhagwan Birsa Munda Chowk. Samity said that this renaming would be done on November 15, the foundation day of the state. Not only this, Samity has also started preparing to install a life size statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at the Chowk.

The crucial decision was taken at a meeting held at Baridih Jahertola on Saturday. The meeting decided to celebrate the state foundation day in a big way. An instruction was also issued to ensure that social distancing is observed by everyone who participates in the celebrations.

Later, the founder member of the Samity Babu Nag said that the members of the Adivasi community would assemble at Sakchi Aam Bagan on State Foundation day and would then reach the proposed Birsa Chowk (Sakchi Golchakkar).

After reaching the proposed Birsa Chowk, they would garland his picture and would chalk out a strategy to ensure that a life-size statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda is installed at the place as soon as possible, he said.

Babu Nag said that the preparations for the programme have almost been completed. The members of the Smarak Samity had also submitted a written application about this.

However, no such official announcement have been made by anyone with authority to rename the Chowk.
