NIT Jamshedpur pays homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shashtri

Jamshedpur: NIT Jamshedpur paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shashtri on Friday, October 2, 2020 by organising a small official function and holding a short cultural programme.

The proceedings began with introduction of the day by anchors Sayeri and Mayank.

Lal Bahadur Shashtri had once said: “True democracy or the swaraj of the masses can never come through untruthful and violent means, for the simple reason that the natural corollary to their use would be to remove all opposition through the suppression or extermination of the antagonist.”

2nd October is a day of utmost importance, not only for the people of subcontinental region but for people all over the world. It is the birth anniversary of two Indian Stalwarts, the father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi and the pillar of modern Indian democracy Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri. Both of them were faces of Indian Freedom Movement.

They were founders of non-violent ways of resistance. Mahatma Gandhi will be remembered for his teachings, his belief in the principle of Satyagraha and for his idea of a Great Nation. Shastri Ji on the other hand will be remembered for his principles, for his idealism in politics and for his standout ideas of a strong and developing nation.

Then Hon. Director Prof Karunesh Kumar Shukla along with all the respected teachers of the institute paid their respects to both these stalwarts by lightning the pious lamp and garlanding their portraits. Then began a series of cultural events.

Manish started off with a melodious prayer, “Vaishnav Jan Ko”. It was followed by Prof. Vishesh Ranjan Kar who played flute and then Shubham Roger recited his poem “Rashtrapita”.

Then came Ratna Raasi who sang the melodious notes of, “Achyutesh Keshavam”. After that the baton was passed on to Archit who recited Shri Hari Om Pawar’s fiery poem “GANDHI”.
