Recovery rate in TMH at 78.2 is better than national recovery rate: Dr Rajan Chaudhry

No negligence in treatment in TMH

• TMH does not benefit if a patient dies or is declared positive
• Most deceased were either above 60 or had co-morbidities

Jamshedpur: The recovery rate of Corona patients in TMH has gone up to 78.2 per cent from last week’s 75.5 per cent and now it is even better than the national recovery rate.

Informing the media about this in weekly press conference of TMH, the former GM and the current Advisor on Corona Issues Dr Rajan Chaudhry said that TMH has treated more non-employees than employees as far as corona patients are concerned.

He said that 55 per cent of corona patients treated in the hospital are non-employees.

He said that the number of tests too has gone up. More than 300 employees and doctors too have got infected while treating the patients.

He said that the hospital and its healthcare professionals are providing best possible care to the patients despite adversities.

He said hat more than 24 patients of above 80 years of age have been completely cured and discharged. Even 3 90-year-old patients have been cured and discharged.

He said that everyday around 800 tests are being carried out, out of which around 270 are RT PCR tests. Around 40 are being done using Truenat machines, while rest are antigen tests.

He also added that most of the patients who are succumbing to the virus are either of 60 years of age or more or have had co-morbidities.

He also clarified that TMH or Tata Steel does not benefit in any way by declaring anyone positive. Nor do they benefit in any way if someone dies. There is absolutely no negligence in treatment. The hospital has been doing well despite adversities.

He said that although 215 patients have died in TMH, most of the deceased had pre-existing conditions.

Regarding the increase in number of infections, he said tha the infections is at its peak which would continue till mid September. After that this may be come down a little although nothing can be predicted with certainty.

He said that it has been observed that after reaching a peak, the infections do slide down in numbers.

The new GM of TMH Dr. Sudhir Roy, Corporate Communications Chief Kulween Suri and Head Runa Rajeev Kumar were also present in the conference.
