Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP launches Gen-2 leaders for 2024 elections
Jamshedpur: Learning from the rout in last Assembly elections, BJP has started building its organisation in Jamshedpur from scratch.
The party has launched its second general leaders by declaring its Jamshedpur Mahanagar District Committee.
Sons of several leaders have made it to the committee. A few have become Mandal president, while a few politician brothers too have got the reins of mandal level units.
An effort has been made to create a caste and faction balance from mandal level to district level.
However, special care has been taken to accommodate those who have shown loyalty towards the former Chief Minister Raghubar Das and people close to him.
Those who have been lackadaisical in last Assembly elections have been given a signal that commitment to the party is the first criteria for vertical progress in the party.
Gunjan Yadav has tried his best to accommodate the supporters of senior leaders. This is the reason, Dhruv Mishra, son of Ramfal Mishra, who plays an important role in Ramleela in Sakchi and is a senior leader of Kashidih, has been made the president of Sakchi East Mandal.
Similarly, Hanu Jain, who is son of Mahendra Jain, who has been close to K N Govindacharya, has been given the charge of Jugsalai.
In 1995, Govindacharya had played an important role in ensuring a ticket to Raghubar Das. At that time Govindacharya was an influential leader in BJP.
Similarly, Santosh Tiwary, brother of Hari Kishore Tiwary of Bistupur, has been given the charge of Bistupur Mandal.
Lackadaisical attitude does not pay
The talk of the town is that two leaders of Jamshedpur West, Vikash Singh of Mango and Deepu Singh of Kadma Mandal, have not been accommodated in the new committee.
Sources say that these two leaders have been ignored owing to their not having supported BJP candidate Devendra Singh in the Assembly elections.
After losing to Banna Gupta in Jamshedpur West, party’s internal report said that Deepu Singh and Vikash Singh did not make their best effort.
On the other hand Deepu Singh had organised a Swami Sahajanand Saraswati Jayanti after Assembly elections and Congress leaders were given prominence in the programme. Banna Gupta’s photo was also displayed in the programme.
This went against him and the script for sidelining was written.
Vikash Singh had caused heart-burn in the party when Saryu Rai was in the party and he was close to him. When mahanagar committee was formed, his size was expected to be cut down.
On the other hand, Rajiv Singh, who has always opposed Vikash Singh has been made the treasurer.
Balance maintained in caste equations
The new committee balances the caste equations perfectly too.
Gunjan Yadav himself represents backward castes. While accommodating BCs, he has also accommodated leaders from Brahmin, Bhumihar, Rajput and Marwari communities.
Sudhanshu Ojha from Brahmin community has been made vice-president. Babua Singh representing Bhumihar community, Sanjiv Sinha reprsenting Kayastha community and Pradip Mahato from Backward community and Bari Murmu from Adivasi community too have been accommodated.
Anil Modi from Marwari community has been made Mahamantri or general secretary, while Rakesh Singh from Bhumihar community has been made treasurer.
It is clear now that BJP has started focusing on strengthening its organisational structure well before 2024 elections.
