Thieves attempt theft at Potka ATM

Jamshedpur: Unidentified thieves made an abortive attempt to steal cash from an ATM in Kalikapur village of Potka police station area in the wee hours of Friday, sources said.

Police said the criminals could not take away the cash. The machine was however damaged in the attempt, they said.

Local villagers learnt about the theft attempt in the morning. They soon intimated cops about the incident.

Police officials reached the ATM and began a probe into the incident. The ATM kiosk was closed and the bank officials were informed about the incident.

Investigators said the ATM break-in incident had taken place after a long time. Rackets targeting ATMs have again become active in the district, they said.
