Purnima Netralaya Staff Strike for Better Conditions

Seraikela Housekeeping Staff Demands Job Security and Pay Hike

Housekeeping staff at Seraikela’s Purnima Netralaya strike for improved working conditions and salary, threatening indefinite action if demands unmet.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a decisive move for better employment terms, the housekeeping staff of Purnima Netralaya in Tamuliya, Kapali, Kharsawan district initiated a strike on Friday.

This protest, centering on demands for job stabilization and salary increases, led to a temporary disruption in the health services at the facility.

Responding to the situation, the hospital management promised to address the concerns within 24 hours, prompting the workers to resume duties temporarily.

However, the staff have cautioned about an indefinite strike if their demands remain unaddressed by the next day.

The employees, who have dedicated many years to Purnima Netralaya, expressed dissatisfaction over the reduction of their annual leave from 41 to 22 days and the stagnation of their salaries.

Despite these challenges, they have continued to work without formal job confirmation or salary enhancement.

Attempts to raise these issues with the hospital authorities have allegedly been met with threats and warnings of termination.

In contrast, Asim Bhattacharya, the General Manager of Purnima Nethralaya, has acknowledged the situation.

He stated that a 24-hour period has been requested to resolve the grievances of the striking workers.

The striking staff has also garnered support from local public representatives, strengthening their position in this dispute.
