Recovery of dead body from Adityapur house causes sensation, social cohesion under scanner

Adityapur: In a shocking incident, the Seraikela-Kharsawan police have found a decomposed dead body from a house from Road No. 12 area in Adityapur. The police have also found another brother of the deceased in an unconscious state lying beside the dead body. Third brother, after seeing the commotion, has absconded.

According to the police sources, the deceased used to live in that house with two other brothers. All three brothers had mental illness. After the death of their parents, the three brothers mostly remained in their house. One brother used to go outside sometimes and would bring something to eat by soliciting help from others and then shared that with others.

The locals say that during lockdowns none of them were seen outside the house.

On Tuesday, after foul smell started emanating from the house, the neighbours informed Adityapur police. When the police knocked at the door, no one opened the door. Police somehow entered the house through roof and saw that the dead body of one brother was lying in a room in a decomposed state and foul smell was emanating from it. On the other hand, another brother was lying unconscious beside his body. The third brother seeing the commotion escaped from the place. The incident caused quite a commotion in the area.

The three brothers lived alone and they had no visitors.

The locals say that their distant relatives have now arrived and they would help cremate the dead body of the deceased.

Police find dead body in Adityapur house where three brothers with mental illness used to live.

However, the incident has left a big question over the fate of mentally ill people and also over the social responsibility of neighbourhood, where no one cares about others’ well-being.
