NIT Jamshedpur, NHIDCL Sign MoU for Highways Infrastructure Development

The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur and NHIDCL join forces for addressing highway construction challenges in India’s severe climates.

JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Goutam Sutradhar, the director of the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, spoke positively about a new collaboration for highway infrastructure development in India.

An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between NIT Jamshedpur and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Mr. Chanchal Kumar, Managing Director of NHIDCL, and Col. (Dr.) Nishith Kumar Rai, Registrar of NIT Jamshedpur, were the signatories of the agreement at the NHIDCL headquarters in New Delhi.

Other NHIDCL officials were present for the occasion, indicating the significance of the partnership.

NIT Jamshedpur will provide technical support in design, planning, and supervision of highways and other infrastructural projects in India.

They will ensure safety, quality standards, and resolution of technical construction-related issues.

NHIDCL, committed to fostering regional connectivity in India, especially in regions sharing international borders, will benefit from the shared knowledge, expertise, and technology.

The organisation already manages the construction of National Highways in extreme terrain regions such as the Himalayan areas of Uttarakhand, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the northeastern region of the country.

Beyond roadways, NHIDCL also oversees the development of transport-related infrastructure.

Dr. Sutradhar expressed that the collaboration will be beneficial for geotechnical investigation, geological investigation, underground excavation, transport engineering, analysis, and development of various highway projects.
