Sameer Nag Files Complaint; Accused Aasu Karmkar Allegedly Opened Fire to Kill

JAMSHEDPUR – A long-standing rivalry turned violent in the Bihari Basti area of Ramjanam Nagar under the Kadma police station area on Wednesday night, when a dispute between two groups escalated into a physical assault followed by three rounds of gunfire. Three young men narrowly escaped being shot, while one sustained injuries.
Sameer Nag, a resident of Ramjanam Nagar, filed a written complaint at Kadma police station after the incident. According to his complaint, he was standing near a public toilet beneath the Marine Drive Highway along with his friends Sunny Gupta and Vikas Tanti. Six youths arrived there on two motorcycles and began abusing all three over a previous dispute.
The altercation quickly turned violent. The attackers hurled bricks and stones at the trio, leaving Sameer Nag with a serious head injury. His two companions were also hurt in the attack.
Nag has further alleged that after the assault, a youth identified as Aasu Karmkar fired three rounds with the intent to kill. However, none of the bullets hit anyone and all three managed to flee the spot and save their lives. Meanwhile, Kadma police have launched an investigation following the complaint. Officers are searching for the accused and have stated that further legal action will follow based on the findings of the probe. Fear has gripped the Kadma locality since the incident. Jamshedpur has seen a series of firing incidents in recent months, with police making several arrests in connection with illegal weapons.
