Tata Motors Workers Secure 12.3% Bonus and 375 Permanent Jobs

Union Deal Ends TMST Era, Ensures Jobs and Training Opportunities

Key Points:

  • Tata Motors employees to get 12.3% bonus this year
  • 375 by-six workers made permanent under new agreement
  • 148 TMST and FTA workers to be absorbed with diploma program

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Motors workers are set to receive a 12.3 percent bonus along with major workforce regularization.

The agreement was finalized between management and the Tata Motors Workers Union on August 23. Employees will get a maximum bonus of ₹75,223 and an average of ₹50,160. Last year, the maximum was ₹63,872 and the average ₹46,418.

The company’s 7,000 permanent employees will benefit, while 1,300 temporary workers will receive 8.33 percent. Retiring employees will receive ₹15,048. The total outlay will be about ₹40 crore, with payment scheduled with the August salary on September 1.

The bonus deal also ensures permanent employment for 375 by-six workers. Out of 1,675 already regularized, 375 more will be absorbed now, leaving 650 who will be made permanent by June 2026. Union leaders said this marks the end of the temporary employment system at Tata Motors.

The agreement also clears the way for 148 TMST and FTA workers. They will be employed with three-year diploma training supported by Arka Jain University. The program will allow them to advance into supervisory or officer roles without bearing education costs.

Union leaders emphasized that the deal went beyond monetary bonus. General Secretary R.K. Singh said, “Our priority is not only bonus amounts but also regularization and training.” Advisor Praveen Singh added, “The biggest achievement is the permanent status for TMST, apprentices and by-six workers.”

Following the agreement, workers celebrated outside the main gate with music, colors, and garlands for union leaders.
