Jamshedpur Trailer Owners Announce Strike

Union to Begin Hunger Strike from February 12

Jamshedpur local trailer owners plan a hunger strike over unresolved issues.

Key Points:

  • Strike to start on February 12 due to ongoing driver issues.
  • Union demands minimum wage and medical benefits for drivers.
  • 35% rate hike requested for vehicle owners.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Local Trailer Owners Association has declared a hunger strike starting February 12, addressing the ongoing issues faced by drivers. This announcement follows a meeting where union president Jay Kishore Singh highlighted the persistent neglect of driver concerns by Tata management.

The union has been actively communicating the problems faced by both vehicle owners and drivers to Tata, yet the company has failed to address these issues adequately. Singh emphasized that this time, the union is prepared for a decisive battle.

Among the key demands are minimum wage increases, improved medical facilities, and a 35% hike in rates for vehicle owners. Drivers have expressed frustration over their working conditions, which include insufficient trips and inadequate provisions for food and sanitation. The hunger strike aims to bring attention to these critical issues and push for immediate action from the management.
