Health Minister Banna Gupta and MP Bidyut Mahato Launch 16-Day Festival Amid Devotee Enthusiasm

JAMSHEDPUR – The city’s Kadma area comes alive as the 16-day Ganeshotsav Mela begins, drawing thousands of devotees to its vibrant festivities.
Health Minister Banna Gupta and MP Bidyut Baran Mahto jointly inaugurated the Ganeshotsav Mela at Kadma on September 7. The event commenced with a grand Ganesh Puja, featuring the Kalash Sthapana ritual.
Priests from Parvatipuram, Andhra Pradesh, conducted the ceremonial proceedings. Notable attendees included former Chief Minister Arjun Munda and MLA Saryu Roy.
"This festival embodies the spirit of unity and devotion," remarked Raghubar Das, Odisha Governor, who had inaugurated the Ganesh Puja pandal a day earlier.
The 106th edition of the festival, organized by Bal Ganpati Vilas, promises an array of attractions. Electric swings, break dance rides, and Tora Tora experiences await visitors.
Festive Highlights and Schedule
The celebration will feature special events throughout its duration. A food service at Bistupur Antyodaya Ashram is planned for September 14.
On September 21, devotees can partake in a grand Mahabhog. The festival’s pinnacle will be the immersion procession on September 22.
"We expect this year’s procession to be our most spectacular yet," shared a local organizer.
The procession will begin at Kadma Rankini Temple and conclude at the Kharkai River. It will pass through key areas like Gopal Maidan and Bistupur.
Following the Ganeshotsav, Jamshedpur will seamlessly transition into Durga Puja celebrations. This continuity ensures the city maintains its festive atmosphere.
