SERAIKELA – In a dramatic turn for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, political tensions soared on Friday as two prominent leaders locked horns for Seraikela’s crucial seat.
Champai Soren, former chief minister and senior leader, filed his nomination on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, marking his break from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) as he stood alongside BJP district president Uday Pratap Singh Deo.
On the other side, Ganesh Mahali, who recently exited the BJP, secured his nomination on a JMM ticket, stirring up a major political clash on one of the state’s key seats.
Supporters of both parties gathered at the nomination center, erupting into slogans against each other as each side vocalized its allegiance.
A local resident, observing the scene, remarked, “The competition in Seraikela has never been this fierce; both sides are out to prove their strength.”
The JMM formally finalized Mahali’s candidacy late Thursday, solidifying his position against Soren in what is shaping up to be a defining face-off.
Amid the spirited exchanges, police presence was intensified to maintain order as officials worked to prevent disruptions at the center.
The atmosphere remained tense as security forces took control, with both parties anticipating an intense battle ahead in Seraikela’s highly watched contest.
