Monsoon Season Brings Spike in Infections in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur sees a rise in bacterial and fungal infections with the arrival of monsoon, reports MGM Hospital.

MGM Hospital has reported an increase in cases of bacterial and fungal infections such as ringworm, itching, boils, and pimples as the monsoon season sets in Jamshedpur.

JAMSHEDPUR – As the monsoon season arrives, Jamshedpur is experiencing a noticeable increase in bacterial and fungal infections.

MGM Hospital has recently experienced a sudden increase in the number of patients seeking treatment for common skin conditions such as ringworm, itching, boils, and pimples.

These conditions are affecting people of all ages.

Dr. AN Jha, a dermatologist, explains that the rise in infections can be attributed to factors that are worsened by the humid and rainy weather conditions. When it’s hot and humid outside, and you’re sweating and wearing damp clothes, it creates the perfect conditions for bacteria and fungi to grow.

According to Dr. Jha, fungus tends to grow well in damp places, especially between the toes and on the palms.

This can be made worse by coming into contact with rainwater that is contaminated.

To address these issues, Dr. AN Jha suggests several preventive measures:

  • Promptly dry sweat, especially during hot weather, to prevent bacterial growth.

  • Avoid prolonged wearing of damp or wet clothes by changing into dry clothes immediately after they become wet.

  • Ensure thorough washing of clothes with hot water to eliminate fungal spores.

  • Avoid using over-the-counter creams without medical advice, as they may not be suitable and can potentially harm the skin.

It is important to seek medical consultation from Dr. Jha for proper diagnosis and treatment of fungal infections.

Healthcare professionals may prescribe specific anti-fungal powders or specialized ointments for treatment.

It is important to follow these precautions and guidelines to manage and reduce the impact of bacterial and fungal infections during the monsoon season.

By doing so, we can improve the health outcomes for the residents of Jamshedpur.
