JAMSHEDPUR – A woman was robbed and shots were fired in Sidhgora on Saturday evening despite heightened police patrols for civic polls.
The incident occurred on Roro Road under Sidhgora police station limits in Jamshedpur. It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The victim lives in Bagun Nagar. She was returning home after buying vegetables.
Meanwhile, motorcycle-borne criminals intercepted her midway. They snatched a gold chain from her neck.
However, she resisted and tried to stop them. The assailants then fired in the air.
Moreover, the gunshot created panic across the locality. The attackers fled immediately after firing.
The incident unfolded while police conducted flag marches. The exercise aimed to assure safety during municipal elections.
In contrast, residents expressed anger over policing gaps. They questioned security despite visible deployment.
Furthermore, fear gripped people in the neighborhood. Many called the act brazen and alarming.
Police teams reached the site soon after information. Officers began a preliminary investigation.
