Police seize 50 pouches of drugs near Shyam Nagar Chhath Ghat

JAMSHEDPUR – Acting on SSP directions, Jamshedpur Police intensified action against drug peddlers and arrested two youths with brown sugar in the Olidih police station area.
The raid was conducted near Shyam Nagar Chhath Ghat under Olidih limits. The operation followed a specific tip-off received on Monday.
Moreover, police caught the accused while they were selling brown sugar openly. The arrest was made during a targeted surveillance drive.
During the search, officers recovered 50 pouches of brown sugar. The total seized weight was recorded at 3.48 grams.
Subsequently, both accused were taken into custody. They were later produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.
The arrested accused were identified as Shera Devgam, aged 19 years. He is a resident of New Olidih near Murda Maidan.
The second accused was identified as Deepak Munda, aged 16 years. He also resides in New Olidih near Murda Maidan.
The raid team was constituted under the supervision of DSP Patamda Bachandev Kujur. Senior officers closely monitored the operation.
Besides, the raiding party included OP In-charge Sharik Ali and other officers. Several police personnel participated in the action.
Police officials stated that strict surveillance is being maintained in the area. The campaign targets street-level drug vendors.
Earlier, police had seized drugs worth lakhs during a major crackdown in the city.
Similarly, illegal narcotics were recovered during a pharmacy raid in Jamshedpur.
On the other hand, brown sugar was earlier seized in a Birsanagar operation. The accused was arrested then.
Meanwhile, large quantities of drugs were destroyed earlier in Sini under police supervision.
Police said the anti-drug drive will continue. Strict legal action will be taken against offenders.
