First Inter Corporate Sports Tournament Concludes in Jamshedpur

Tata Steel Event Features Badminton, Relay and Cricket with Mandatory Women’s Participation

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Department of Sports successfully concluded the first Inter Corporate Sports Tournament 2025, featuring 14 teams across badminton, relay and cricket competitions.

The tournament ran in two distinct phases. It brought together organizations from varied sectors. Participants included Tata Steel Tinplate Division and District Administration. However, teams from District Police and Jharkhand Armed Police also competed.

Chamber of Commerce & Industries participated alongside HDFC Bank. Moreover, TRF Limited and Amalgam Steel joined the event. Tata Steel Support Services Limited featured prominently. Meanwhile, Young India and TIMKEN rounded out the field.

The first phase occurred on December 6-7, 2025. It showcased a cricket tournament. Chamber of Commerce & Industries emerged as champions. HDFC Bank secured runner-up position. In addition, Tinplate Division claimed third place.

The second phase took place December 13-14, 2025. Events were held at Badminton Training Centre. On the other hand, relay competitions utilized Athletics Tracks. Both venues are located at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Retired DSP Kamal Kishor attended the prize distribution. DSP Law & Order Bhola Prasad also graced the ceremony. Furthermore, Rohit Prasad from R&R and SHM participated. Senior Geologist Pallavi completed the guest lineup.

Amalgam Steel dominated badminton competitions in both categories. TRF Limited finished as runners-up across divisions. Besides, TSSSL secured third position in men’s and women’s events.

Young India Jamshedpur won the relay championship. Police Administration claimed second place in the race. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP-6) took third position.

The tournament mandated women’s participation across all events. Cricket teams required two female participants each. Moreover, badminton needed complete women’s teams. Relay squads included minimum two women runners.

Each cricket squad featured mandatory female representation. Badminton competitions included separate women’s categories. In contrast, relay teams integrated women into mixed formations.

The initiative reflects Tata Steel’s commitment to workplace diversity. It promotes fitness through competitive sports. However, the event emphasizes team bonding simultaneously. Furthermore, it creates networking opportunities across industries.

Ginger provided hospitality support for the tournament. Tata Copper contributed to event arrangements. Additionally, Tata Gluco Plus partnered in organizing activities.

The tournament marks a significant milestone. It establishes new benchmarks for corporate sports. On the other hand, it demonstrates inclusive participation models. Moreover, it strengthens inter-organizational relationships in Bistupur industrial area.

District Administration showcased sporting capabilities beyond administrative duties. HDFC Bank demonstrated corporate athletic prowess. Meanwhile, technical divisions displayed competitive spirit. Bar Council participation highlighted legal community engagement.

The event concluded with certificate distribution ceremonies. Winners received trophies and recognition awards. In addition, participants gained valuable networking experiences. The tournament sets foundation for annual sporting traditions.
